More problems.

Dropped the back wheel off at the tyre fitters yesterday to get the new tyre fitted.  When I got back they told me it needs a new tube as well! I was told by the old owner that it was tubeless hence I got a new tyre!

They have ordered a new tube which will be here tomorrow.

The rubber cover for the gear shift arrived yesterday as well and was fitted easily so the gear shift is not like new.

The only problem now is that the actual gear shift looks really worn compared to the rubber 😂

The more I look at the bike the more I see that needs doing to it.

At some point I am going to have to strip the bike down and restore it but that can wait a bit.

I am thinking that once I have my licence and have a bigger bike I can then use the TSR as a project bike and tear it down and restore it. For now it will be my daily driver so can stay as it is.

Also my Dad couldn't find any mole grips so I have had to order some from Amazon which will arrive today. I decided to buy a bolt removal kit too just in case the mole grips don't work. I am going to get some loosening spray today too to help the bolt come out.

Finally made time to start work on the TSR!

Woke up this afternoon after my night shift and decided that I needed to get the TSR on the road as I have had it for 2 months and I have only ridden it home from the sellers house.

I have all the parts to fix the side stand and also a spare wheel with a tyre to swap for the wheel with the flat tyre.

I cleared out my dining room and moved the bike indoors to make it easier and more comfortable to work on tonight.

Now the bike is in a well lit area I took a look at the snapped bolt and it looks like there is enough bolt sticking out of the frame to make removing it more straightforward (famous last words 😂).

The plan for today is to take the back wheel off again and remove the bent disk and smaller sprocket and replace them with the ones on the wheel that came with the bike and out the wheel back on.

I will then try and remove the snapped bolt and install the stand and the new hardware on the bike.

I have also noticed that the gear shifter is missing the rubber end so I have bought a new one that will be here tomorrow thanks to the great Fowler's parts department. 

I will most likely need a set of mole grips to remove the snapped bolts so a trip to homebase may well be needed later.

I have taken the spare wheel off and it is not going to work so I am abandoning that idea and I am going to take the original wheel to a tyre place tomorrow to get a new tyre put on it and then putting the wheel back on the bike for now.

Had a change of plans. The disk and sprocket bolts on the spare wheel were all threaded and rounded off so would not  come off. I also noticed that the rim was dented and also the tyre was off road only!!! so I have made the executive decision to not use the wheel and I have been on the Melksham tyres website and bought a Bridgestone Trail Wing TW301/TW302 in the same size as the tyre currently on the wheel (410x18) and I have a fitting window of 12-17:30 tomorrow. Luckily my parents are visiting tomorrow as their car is going in for a service and MOT so my Dad can drive me to the tyre fitters and my Mum can wait in for my delivery's :-) 

My Dad is also bringing me a few sets of mole grips so I am leaving the work until tomorrow and tidying the house instead today. I am leaving the bike in bits for the night so that I don't have to put it back together twice. 

This means that by tomorrow night I will hopefully have a working motorbike :-)

I have decided to leave the bike as it is for the moment and hold off on the super motard conversion as I need the bike working more than I need it as a super motard. I also want to test out the bike as it is before I mess with the wheels. At the moment my brother is using my car so the bike is my only means of transport for now so I just need it working. The rubber for the gear shift will be delivered tomorrow so that will be fixed pretty easily and hopefully the stand can be fixed tomorrow too so the bike will at least be useable for now. 

I will also fill up my petrol can so that I can mix up some fuel to leave in the shed for when I need to fill up.

I have also bought a new clutch cable as the current cable is catching and really hard to pull the lever at the moment and the old owner was spraying it with wd40 every time he rode the bike which has probably made it worse. The part number for the cable is 58210-03D01-000.

More parts arrived

Have had a few more parts arrive for the TSR 200 this week. I now how 2 spare off-road wheels with tyres and also 2 super Moto wheels off of abDR 125 SM. Also a spare tank arrived today which I plan to store for now as a spare in case I need it in the future.

I plan to start doing stuff to the TSR 200 next week. Initially I will out the dirt bike wheel on so that I can ride the bike to my parents house so that it can be kept in their garage out of the elements while I get a lockup near my house. Once the bike is at my parents I will be able to work on it better as the garage is dry and has a light so I can work whenever.

I will then try the super Moto wheels to see if they will fit or not and then see what can be done.

Super Motard wheels arrived

I have just had a call message from work that my supermoto wheels have arrived :-)

I will pick them up later today once my IKEA delivery has arrived.

At least I think that it is my supermoto wheels as they were out for delivery :-)

Bike is going to be a super motard

I have decided that I am going to convert the TSR 200 into a super motard as I don't have time to ride trails at the moment or anyone to ride with so I am going to make it a supermoto to razz around town on as that is mostly what I plan to use the bike for.

Adding the supermoto wheels will also make the bike a bit lower so it will be easier for my short arse to get on :-) The super moto also made sense as I will have to shell out for new tyres anyway so might as well convert it now instead of later as I had always planned to get it converted at some point.

I have been on the internet and found that the hubs from a TSR 125 are the exact same part numbers so I bought 2 used wheels with tyres from Ebay that will server 2 purposes, the first is to get the bike to my parents house so that it can be locked in their garage until I can get a garage near my house, the other purpose is to act as donor hub if need be.

I also found a set of supermoto wheels and tyres on ebay for a dr125 which I also bought as I can try and see  if they will fit directly to the TSR 200  if they don't then the rims and tyres can be laced to the hubs from the TSR 125 wheels to make a set of supermoto wheels so that I can keep the original wheels if I want to use the bike as an enduro bike at a later date.

The wheels will arrive on Wednesday or Thursday so I should be able to get the bike back on the road soon.

I will also need to get a scaffold plank to get the bike back up the steps in my garden as they are really steep and I didn't think about this before I took the bike down the stairs to store it!! Not my best idea ever I can see that already and I havent tried to move the bike yet!

I'm hoping that once the trye is fixed (different wheel) I will be able to push the bike back up the scaffold plank or maybe if that is too hard ride the bike up the plank which will definitely be more fun :-)

I have also sent an email to a breakers yard that is breaking a TSR 125 to see if they have any of the parts that I need or the rear rack off of the TSR 125 as a new on is about £150 and I will need one to weld a bike rack to to carry my bmx on the TSR.

Bought my 1995 TSR 200

I bought and picked up a locally based Suzuki TSR 200 on Friday. I had seen it on line for a week or so and went and looked at it on Thursday and picked it up Friday morning :-)

I paid online Thurday night and got the bike taxed and insured so that it could be ridden home Friday morning which I did :-)

It needs a bit of work but the engine starts first kick and idles and runs great. I managed to get a puncture on the way home and messed up the tyre pretty badly so the bike is currently off the road as the tyre will need replacing.

Not sure that it can be seen from the picture but the bike has been well used and is in need of some tlc for sure. It doesn't have the stand on it at the moment as the bolt is sheered off in the frame! luckily it looks like there is enough bolt sticking out to get it out of the frame pretty easily. The clutch cable is really stiff and sticks so will need to be replaced and the clutch lever is after market and not great so will have to be swapped out. 

The front mudguard is a universal after market one and could do with being replaced at some point too. Apart from these things and the tyre the bike seems OK. It was certainly quick enough on the way back even with a soft/flat tyre and the powerband is amazing fun :-)

I was having trouble finding somewhere to get the tyre fixed on Friday so the bike has been covered in my garden until I can do something with it on Wednesday.
