First ride on the TSR200

My brother brought 5L of petrol over for me on Wednesday (06/05/2020) which filled up the tank once the 100ml of 2 stroke oil was added (20ml per litre mix ratio.

Yesterday (08/05/2020) I got up early and went out for my first ride on my TSR200 since I rode it home in January. The bike started 5th kick which was expected as it hadn't been started for almost a month again and it was running really nicely and I was having an amazing time until it died 10 miles into the ride.

Luckily for me, I was over the road from my brother's house so I was able to push the bike to his house and leave it there and get a lift home :-)

I think that the issue may be fuel related as the fuel dial doesn't line up properly so I may have it in the incorrect position and may have had it on reserve, not the full tank as I definitely didn't ride far enough to use all of the petrol. The tank is also still really full so it can not be the fuel ran out. Another option is that the carb has some dirt in it from sitting for so long. Another worrying thing is that the electrics were not working. I noticed that the speedometer was dead for most of the ride so I think the battery may also have issues from sitting for the best part of 5 months!

I am going to try and get over there tomorrow and take a look as I have a spare fuel cock that is much better than the one on the bike so I will try swapping that first and it that doesn't work I will have to call breakdown and get them to take me home.

Once the bike is home I can take the carb off and check it for first and give it a clean as its probably a good idea to do this anyway as the bike has sat so much.

I will also buy a new battery once I know which type of battery it is.

Apart from the bike breaking down it was running really well and it is much more fun than an equivalent sized 4 stroke bike. I was also happy that the cable lube that I used on the clutch cable has made it really smooth and easy to use now so I will not need to change it just yet.

I have now taken the fuel cock from the spare tank that I bought so I can fit it to the bike tomorrow to see if it will fix the issue.
